Our commitment
This league is for every child in the Eastern Cape, and this website should be usable by every parent, coach and supporter — including those who browse with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or on a basic phone over a slow connection.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. In one respect we hold ourselves to a stricter standard than the guideline requires: we target a text contrast ratio of at least 5:1, where AA asks for 4.5:1.
What we have built in
- Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone.
- A visible focus indicator shows where you are on the page at all times.
- A “skip to main content” link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches.
- Images carry meaningful alternative text, or are marked decorative where they add nothing.
- Headings, landmarks and page titles are structured so screen readers can navigate.
- All animation respects your system's “reduce motion” setting. If you have it switched on, the site does not move.
- Information is never carried by colour alone.
- The site is built to load quickly on entry-level phones over a 3G connection.
Known limitations
We would rather name these than claim a conformance we have not yet earned:
- The site is currently published in English. Full translation into isiXhosa and the other official languages of South Africa is in progress and arrives before registration opens.
- A full independent accessibility audit is scheduled ahead of the Season 2027 launch. Until it is complete, this statement describes our design standard rather than an audited result.
Tell us if something blocks you
If any part of this site prevents you from doing what you came to do, we want to know, and we will fix it. Write to league@ecdl.co.za describing what you were trying to do and what got in the way. Tell us what you use to browse if you can — it helps us reproduce the problem.
If you need information from this site in another format, ask and we will provide it.
